Hey everyone!

As most of you know, as well as my obsession with the entertainment industry, my love for fashion is right there beside it. So when I heard of CollegeFashionista, after attending last year's Teen Vogue Fashion University, I thought it would be a great opportunity to get involved - so I am now Ryerson University's representative (called a Style Guru) for CollegeFashionista!

Every Wednesday, I'll have a new post up on campus trends, featuring Ryerson students! So I'll be constantly roaming around campus looking for fashionistas/fashionistos to snap some photos of!

JRN Feature: Pop-up shops ft. Philip Sparks

Hey everyone!

Just wanted to share a feature article I wrote for my journalism 124 class last semester (so ignore the dates mentioned in it). The assignment was a 'place profile' and I chose to feature Toronto designer Philip Sparks' first pop-up shop, and also looked into the pop-up shop trend.

On any given day, Toronto fashion designer Philip Sparks works in his studio on the fifth floor of the Burroughes Building at Queen and Bathurst, but on September 21, I didn’t find him there. Instead, he had packed the rich earthly tones, crisp tailoring, and shearling accents of his fall collection to display among the soft worn leather suitcases and vintage wooden furniture within the SMASH antique store located in The Junction neighbourhood at 2880 Dundas Street West.

The Philip Sparks Junction Trunk Shop is just one of the pop-up shops making a Toronto appearance. Pop-ups like these are helping designers get their lines out there in a unique way to reach new customers. They are spontaneous and even offer exclusive merchandise, and despite the seemingly complicated task of moving from multiple locations, pop-up shops are becoming an innovative option for today’s Canadian retailers.

And like a reinvention of the travelling circus, the store owner is similar to the ring master, bringing something fresh and original to different locations. This is a new concept in the retail industry, and fairly unknown to the average citizen. Rather than maintaining a permanent spot, designers and store owners search for temporary sites for make-shift shops that remain open for time periods ranging from three days to three months. These shops follow a trend that began overseas in Europe and Asia. Since then, the trend has become more prevalent in the United States, and according to Susan M. Boyce’s article in The Western Investor, “pop-up retail is steadily making its presence felt in Canada.” In Toronto specifically, many other stores are opening their doors as ‘pop-up shops,’ such as the Inside Out Pop Up Shop and A2Zane.

Despite Sparks’ Junction shop at SMASH being only five days long, it is the first of many to come. He will be holding one monthly in addition to maintaining his studio/showroom, which is open to the public on Saturdays. SMASH was his first choice as the location of his debut pop-up because it is full of rustic items such as books, globes, and trinkets that match the line’s sense of finely tailored nostalgia and chestnut brown and olive green colour tones. And that is exactly the outcome that Sparks wanted. He launched his clothing line five years ago and has continued to branch out, adding women’s wear just last season. From the outside, the store is missing an overhead sign that shows a store even exists beyond the exterior, in the address between a furniture store and a bicycle shop. Instead, the word “SMASH” is found in a small font on the lower right corner of the front window. But once you step inside, you walk into a page from a history book.

On the third day since his shop opening, Sparks, a man of quiet nature and friendly face, is pacing around his display. While nodding his head to the Indie music in the background, his fingers slowly move from the table of folded pants and plaid shirts to the blazers and winter coats on the hangers, making sure they are in perfect condition. He is welcoming and smiles at people as they walk into the brightly lit antique shop. Having used a number of items from the store as props to outfit his showroom, as well as for photo shoots and fashion shows, Sparks thought this collaboration was the best idea. In fact, SMASH is known for these collaborations and Dana Francis, co-owner of SMASH, describes the store as a “collective, rather than a single entity.” In the past, the store has been the location for live concerts, beer tastings, and art exhibits, just to name a few. She mentions this is why the store does not have a large sign out front. For Sparks, the feedback has been amazing. He’s hooked on the idea and thinks more designers should take this route.

Eva Tolkin, owner of the Inside Out Pop-up Shop, would agree. She decided to try her hand at the business after getting a taste of it in Montreal. Her unique store, which features an elaborate collection of vintage hats and lavish fur coats, is located on Queen Street West and she emphasizes the most difficult part of opening a pop-up: finding the right location. When she first set out to find a spot, she walked around the city aimlessly and was lucky to find her current location through a friend. It is often a challenge to find a place for a limited amount of time, but Tolkin’s timing was perfect. Previous occupant, and strong supporter of the pop-up trend, Zane Aburaneh, just happened to be moving. Now, he has even designated a space in the new location of his store, A2Zane, specifically for the in-and-out feature of pop-ups.

As for Sparks, he is already planning his next few spots, focusing on arts-oriented areas that suit his overall theme of modern nostalgia, which is “a combination of classic tailoring to suit the modern day guy or girl.” And after his stint at his first location, Sparks packs up his trousers, button-up shirts, and coats to bring back to his studio once again. The success of his shop is seen in the amount of customers who stopped by, as well as their eagerness to learn more about his brand. He gained followers who are anxious to see where he will end up next.

I'm surrounded by such talented people!

Hi everyone

I know I haven't been able to post event coverage in quite some time, but don't worry, it's just the start of the year and I'm sure there will be lots to come! But in the meantime, I thought I'd show some appreciation for the talented people that surround me all the time - whether it's a new YouTube video or news coverage or a simple Facebook status update, it's so awesome to see the amazing things these people are doing. So here's to 2012 - another year of growing, learning, and dreaming! So proud!

Express Not To Impress (E.N.T.I)

I've watched these guys grow into such incredible and passionate dancers and I am SO proud of how far they've come - and they're only still in high school! I was lucky enough to coach them back at Sullivan Heights Secondary and I love visiting them whenever I'm back in town. Just yesterday, they competed at Breakout, a high school dance competition, and they came 2nd in the small team division. Check them out!

Laura Roy

I met this talented singer/songwriter at Encounters With Canada, a trip to Ottawa that brought Canadian students together for a week of various activities/events. Laura is from Canning, Nova Scotia and she is currently in a Music Arts program at the Nova Scotia Community College. This past summer, she even visited Ghana, where she collaborated with Ghanaian rapper Guru and produced two hip hop/r&b tracks. She also has a video entry right now on YouTube to be a contestant on Canada's Got Talent (see below) - good luck Laura!

Navid Charkhi

Wow, this guy is seriously so crazy - and humble - in the dance world. I've known him since our high school dance competition days and it's so great to see he's still as awesome as ever. His choreography is so sick...AND he's in baking & pastry arts, so he's sick in the kitchen too! Check out this video (props to the other dancers in the video too!):

This is the company that produced Navid's video above, and I think these guys are super talented - they do photography, video, and other awesome multi-media projects. RAW Dance Crew (RiseAsWe)

I met these guys at an event in Vancouver but they're actually from Toronto! So I've gotten to hang out with them and see them at TO events as well, which is awesome. The group is made of Mikey Le, Gregory Villarico, David Forteau, and Jimmy Lin and they are based out of Rightfoot Dance Studio. Keep it up guys, can't wait to see more!

Jayson Araja

A fellow dancer from Vancity, and Ryerson student, Jayson is one of the most fashionable people I know. Currently a third-year Fashion Design student, he is always incredibly busy and I don't know how he does it sometimes. I've posted previous blog posts about him as well, featuring his contest entries in different competitions: TRIUMPH & Danier. I can't wait to see his designs on a runway in the future!

Scott Forsyth

Vancity is full of so many incredibly talented dancers, so I will probably continue posting videos from all of them eventually, but this guy in particular...he's so dope. I've been able to dance with him in the past, with SickStylz Symphony, and always used to see him at high school dance competitions, so I love seeing his amazing choreography on his YouTube channel - here's his most recent:

Happy New Year!

Happy (Belated) New Year everyone!

Sorry for the lack of posts, but I was enjoying the holidays over on the West Coast...And now that I'm back in cyber-world, I am excited to see what this year has in store for my blog! Last year was incredible, from going to New York for Teen Vogue to sitting front row at the Canada's Walk of Fame awards show as the Sandra Oh seat filler. So this year, I hope it's just as exciting!

But just if anyone is curious, here is a mini re-cap of what I did over the break:

Was a supportive sister and attended my brother's hockey games.

Sewed for my own enjoyment - yes, that is my new favourite skirt!!

And finally added to my all.dun.up clothing line - sewing wraparound scarves as well as selling vintage silk scarves that I have found all over (see photos below). You can check it out at: http://www.alldunup.tumblr.com

And I also just enjoyed being back in Surrey with my family and friends :)

Jessica & Ashlee Simpson at The Bay!

As a part of The Bay's launch of carrying the Jessica Simpson line, the very pregnant Jessica and her sister Ashlee Simpson (plus her cute little son Bronx!) made an in-store appearance to sign autographs for eager fans at the Queen Street location.

Despite starting 45 minutes late, it was nice to see the two in person. The sisters collaborated on the line's Jessica Simpson Girls collection and it is now carried in The Bay stores.

Ad Women of Toronto Presents: Women in Leadership

Let the end of semester celebrations begin! Well almost - I do still have one exam, but for now, I'd just like to revel in the fact that the first semester classes are already over.

And you know what that means...time to take advantage of the city! And I can finally update my blog with event posts - hooray for free time!

To get the ball rolling, last night I attended an event put on by the Ad Women of Toronto called Women in Leadership. It focused on women who have become successful in the world of marketing, advertising, and media. The event was held at the cool Gladstone Hotel (my first time there!) and it was such a great venue.

The panelists included:

OUCH 2011

Wow, what a weekend. I had such an amazing time with my Ryerson Urban Hip Hop Union dance team at OUCH 2011 (Ontario Universities Competition for Hiphop) on Nov.26th in Oshawa!

Leading up to the competition, we worked so hard and it really showed in the end. And even though we didn't place, we absolutely killed it. Our theme was 'The Outsiders' and we brought the Greasers and Socs to life on stage, and I gotta say, our costumes were on point!

Anyway, there will be more photos to come, but until then, congrats to all the teams that competed! Here were the results:

1st place: Durham College

2nd place: Carleton University

3rd place: Queen's University

The semester couldn't have ended on a higher note. I love my UHHU fam! :)

2011 Gourmet Food & Wine Expo

Hey everyone!

It's been a hectic week, but thankfully, I did get a chance to squeeze in a bit of fun, amidst the essays, dance practices, and busy scheduling! My awesome friend Riley brought me along to the Gourmet Food & Wine Expo that took place last weekend at the Metro Convention Centre and it was such a fun experience!

Things I learned:

I am more of a white wine type of gal

How to use the rinsing stations in between tastings

Wine from Napa Valley is 'over-rated'

I am attracted to everything pink

Canada's Walk of Fame TV Broadcast - Video!

As you may have already known, from my previous posts about my experience at the 2011 Canada's Walk of Fame awards show, which was broadcast on October 23rd, I had quite the interesting opportunity as actress Sandra Oh's seat filler.

Well up until today, I hadn't actually seen the video for myself! So luckily, a friend of mine found it on YouTube and passed it along.

Canada's Walk of Fame TV Broadcast

Well this past Sunday, October 23, the show was aired on TV and if you watched it, you could have caught a glimpse of yours truly.

Love NYC

Aside from going to New York for Teen Vogue, I also took the time to enjoy the city and really spend time as a local. I absolutely love it there and hopefully will live there someday. So I thought I'd share some of my non-Teen Vogue-related photos :)

And yes, I spent a day at NYU, pretending I was a student there....

The famous Tender Buttons shop! SO cute and had the best selection.

Sigh, it's just so beautiful there. And the weather was gorgeous.

Teen Vogue Fashion U: Day 3

Then the final day was here. The weekend went by so quickly! Sunday October 24th was the last session as well as graduation.

The last session was "Fashion in a Digital Age" and it featured a panel of people who have embraced fashion in the online community: Simone Oliver of The New York Times,Hillary Kerr and Katherine Power of whatwhatwear.com, Rich Tong of Tumblr, Aliza Licht, SVP Global Communications for Donna Karan International, and Susan Koger of Modcloth

At the end, everyone was given a diploma and we got our photos taken at the Teen Vogue photo walls (it felt like school picture day!).

Overall, it was such an incredible experience and I had an amazing time!

Teen Vogue Fashion U: Day 2

And then Day 2 of Teen Vogue Fashion University began.

Saturday October 22 was the most jam-packed day of the program and it was by far, the most amazing. It consisted of sessions with fashion legends throughout the day, eventually ending up with a private shopping party at Topshop in Soho.

Each student chose their sessions from an amazing list of speakers, so there were many more guests than what I post on here. These photos were only from the sessions I attended. Some other notable figures include: Whitney Port, Chris Benz, Lauren Berger, and Alexander Wang.

Teen Vogue Editor-in-Chief Amy Astley introduced the event's keynote speaker, Michael Kors.

Michael Kors gave some great insight into how he got into the fashion industry and gave advice to aspiring designers.

Next up was "The Dynamic Duo" featuring the young designers behind Proenza Schouler. These graduates from Parsons are so talented, and it was great to hear their stories.

And then there was my ultimate favourite...the one and only Betsey Johnson! I have always been a Betsey Johnson fan, so I was beyond excited to get to see her in person.

And she was crazy as usual. And that is why I love her.

Next was "The Chosen One" featuring Jason Wu (born in Taiwan, but moved to Vancouver!), who designed Michelle Obama's inauguration gown.

And the final session of the day was a panel discussion with the editors of Teen Vogue. It was so helpful and great to hear tips straight from the pros.

And then there was the Topshop event, which was amazing!

My Teen Vogue Fashion University experience began with a fun private shopping event at H&M on Fifth Ave. There were treats, beverages, discounts, and a photo wall! And plus, there was even a live performance by the UK band Viva Brother!

On the first night of my highly anticipated visit to New York City last Thursday, I stumbled upon the theatre that was featuring "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying" starring Daniel Radcliffe and John Larroquette. And being the Harry Potter fan that I am, I had to stick around to catch a glimpse of him in person.

There were tons of people around, but luckily, I was able to get an autograph and some quick pics.

It was a great way to start off the trip!

Kollar Clothing Fashion Show!

Last night, I was fortunate enough to attend the fantastic Kollar Clothing fashion show that took place in the historic Distillery District at the Airship 37 Venue. I was invited as media by the line's designer and co-founder David Kollar and team member David Forteau. David Kollar co-founded the line with Gerald Aquintey. I was so impressed with the entire event, from the venue to the clothes, and they even showcased a performance by the Moon Runners (a well known dance crew in Toronto).

Canada's Walk of Fame

This was a historic day.

It's not everyday that you sit in the front row of the Elgin Theatre at the Canada's Walk of Fame awards night gala filling the seat for Sandra Oh (you may know her as Dr. Christina Yang on Grey's Anatomy)...sitting alongside hip hop icon Drake, comedian Russell Peters, rock star Burton Cummings, astronaut Roberta Bondar, and tennis superstar Daniel Nestor.

But it happened.

I found myself sitting in a seat between Sandra Oh's father and Drake's mother. And with Drake on the other side of his mom...how amazing is that?! I sat there in awe, just watching the presentations on stage, and thinking oh my god, Drake is just one seat over, keep calm.

But that was only one of the highlights of the night...another one happened when Russell Peters got up on stage to receive his award.

And knowing Russell Peters, he was bound to make some sort of racial joke up there. And this one involved me.

After a few thank you's and whatnot, out came the jokes. He glanced at me from centre stage and then said something along the lines of 'they've even replaced Sandra Oh with another Asian! They're even racially profiling the seat fillers now!' and some other witty lines. Be sure to watch the televised show on October 23!

I couldn't stop laughing and some of the people around me started to chat with me. The one and only Roberta Bondar said to me: 'Imagine if he'd asked if you were related!' and shared a laugh after the joke. And I also had a lovely conversation with Sandra Oh's father, who mentioned his other daughter who is currently living in Vancouver.

Once Sandra got back to her seat after doing interviews and stuff, I left the front row and got to watch the remainder of the show from a seat near the middle of the theatre. Still, not bad, considering the tickets to this event ranged from $400-$1200....

After the show, I was able to talk to Russell Peters and Sandra Oh, even getting photos with them! (Sadly, Drake had already left)

Me: Hi, I'm the one you made fun of in Sandra Oh's seat. Thanks for making me a part of the show!

Russell Peters: See what I did for you there!

Me: Hi! I was your seat filler and the one in Russell Peters' joke earlier!

Sandra Oh: Oh I heard about that! How was it? I can't wait to see it.

Overall, it was such an incredible experience.

ANNA SUI @ Sears

Anna Sui made an appearance at Sears in the Eaton Centre on September 30th, where she signed autographs and took photos with people who got a VIP card by purchasing some of her products at the store.

It was great to meet her! I love her products and even bought some after getting my make-up done by one of the make-up artists there.

Topshop Is On Its Way!

Just a quick update!

As you all probably already knew, The Bay began carrying Topshop, making the popular U.K. clothing line available for downtown Torontonians. But on October 5th, an actual Topshop store will be opening and making its presence known in the fabulous Yorkdale Mall.

I know everyone is super excited for opening day, especially since there will be exclusive items as well as beauty makeovers and a photo booth. You even get a discount if you show a student ID card!

And to promote the opening event, the Topshop truck was wandering throughout the city and I happened to walk by one right on Ryerson's campus on Gould Street!

I'm not sure if I will be able to attend, because of school, but I'm sure it will be an great event to check out if you have the time!

Manifesto 2011

Hey everyone!

If you haven't heard anything about Manifesto, I encourage you to get in on it. After hearing about it just this past summer while I was back in BC, I was surprised that I hadn't heard of it sooner, especially having lived in Toronto for a full year.

Manifesto is a 10-day hip hop festival that celebrates culture, brings people together, and showcases amazing local talent in the hip hop scene. It takes place at venues all throughout the city and I was disappointed I didn't get a chance to check out more of the events.

The events I did check out though, were well worth it.

One of the most popular was the festival at Dundas Square. There were so many people and tons of great music and entertainment, plus crowds of people around bboys and freestylers. One of my favourite features was the graffiti wall. Hip hop legends graced their presence and made their marks.

Another event I checked out was The Movement, which took place at 99 Sudbury (such an amazing venue with so much character and history). The event was a dance showcase and it featured not only bboy battles, but even all-style battles. I even saw some familiar faces representing Vancity, which was amazing.

Jay Manuel @ Sears

Hey everyone!

For all you fans of America's Next Top Model, Jay Manuel himself made an in-store appearance at Sears in Eaton Centre on Tuesday, September 20 to launch his Attitude clothing line. There was a giant runway set up near the Sears entrance and rows of chairs ready for the anxious crowd. The first 50 people got a wristband to do a meet & greet with him after the presentation.

The event, which consisted of a short interview and a fashion show of Manuel's fave five looks, was hosted by ET Canada's Kim D'Eon.

Fun fact: Did you know Jay Manuel is from Scarborough?

I haven't gotten a chance to check out his collection at Sears, but I hopefully will soon!

World of Dance Toronto 2011

Hey everyone!

Now that all the TIFF madness is over, I've been able to focus more on everything else going on in the city. And being in Toronto, there is always something happening...which is why I love it here!

Just this past weekend, the World of Dance Tour made its very first Toronto stop and I was glad I was able to check it out! I was also fortunate enough to go to the Vancouver stop, which took place this summer (I took photos at it for Hush Magazine), so I was super pumped when I realized I'd get to go to TWO amazing dance events.

And being here in Toronto, I've been able to meet a lot of amazing dancers, mainly through my experience on the Ryerson hip hop dance team. So I showed my support to a bunch of them who were competing on the stage at The Sound Academy for this year's TO World of Dance.

If you don't know what World of Dance is...well you can Google it. But it's pretty much a huge dance festival that features not only amazing performers, but also other aspects of the hip hop community, from beat boxing to graffiti. Aside from the main stage competition, there were also bboy, popping, locking, and freestyle battles.

AND Season 6 America's Best Dance Crew winners I.aM.mE were there as special guest performers!

TIFF 2011: 50/50 Premiere

Today was the big day...Joseph Gordon Levitt would be at Ryerson Theatre. He was here for the premiere of 50/50, which also stars Seth Rogan, Anna Kendrick, and Bryce Dallas Howard, who all made an appearance.

I have been such a huge fan of JGL. But it was disappointing because he didn't stop and interact with his fans...And I could tell that a lot of people around me were quite annoyed.

But all in all, at least I got to see him!

Oh! And Kathy Griffin made a surprise appearance!

Hugh Dancy (who typically plays the prince charming/love interest in many of my favourite movies) is such a wonderful guy in person. Enough said.

TIFF 2011: Drive Premiere

And now for the person who I was MOST excited to see...the one and only Ryan Gosling.

He made an appearance for the premiere of the film Drive, at Ryerson Theatre on Saturday, Sept.10. It was incredibly crowded, but thankfully I had a fantastic spot at the front lines, having a great view of all the action.

And of course, he looked amazing. (I'm sure you all fell even more madly in love with him after seeing Crazy Stupid Love...)

On Sept.10, I checked out the red carpet for the hockey comedy Goon, starring Jay Baruchel, Seann William Scott, Allison Pill, and Marc-Andrew Grondin (plus others, but these were the ones who made an appearance).

Also, there was a lot of promo stuff for the film! Aka, a zamboni driving up the street to the red carpet plus people in jerseys/rollerblades passing out "trading" cards of the actors in the movie. It was a lot of fun!

TIFF 2011: Friends with Kids Premiere

Hey everyone!

Toronto has been filling up with big name celebrities, who are in town for the Toronto International Film Festival. Throughout the city, there are various theatres that hold movie premieres, as well as many other great events from Sept.8 - Sept.18!

And since Ryerson is so cool, TIFF actually uses our theatre as one of their venues. Which means, celebrities grace us with their presence right on our campus. How convenient!

The first red carpet I stopped by was for the film Friends With Kids, starring Adam Scott, Jennifer Westfeldt, Jon Hamm, and Megan Fox (many others, but these were the ones that showed up to the screening). Megan's husband Brian Austen Green also came out to show his support at the event.

Cast of Footloose visits NML!

Hey everyone!

In addition to Greyson Chance, the fantastic dancing duo of Kenny Wormald and Julianne Hough from the upcoming remake of Footloose also stopped by New.Music.Live. today.

Being a dancer myself, I was excited to meet them and hear them talk about their experiences working on the film. Check out the trailer!

Not only did they get interviewed, but they also got to judge a dance competition between two of NML's wonderful hosts, Phoebe and Kathleen. And with the help of Toronto dance crew Artists in Motion, Phoebe and Kathleen killed the performance! They worked super hard and it paid off; they were awesome. But in the end, it was a tie. Julianne's choice was Kathleen, while Kenny's choice was Phoebe, but overall it was a lot of fun to watch.

I'm excited to see the movie, which comes out on October 14th!

Among the many stars to come from YouTube, I think Greyson stands out not only because of his incredible natural talent, but also for his sweet and humble personality. And at only 14 years old, he's got a lot to boast about; from being the first artist signed to Ellen DeGeneres' record label and working with Lady Gaga herself. Hey everyone!

I hope you all are having a fabulous weekend! After a pretty quiet week, I was excited for an event being held at Holt Renfrew on Saturday, August 27th. If you are not already familiar with The Coveteur, you should! But if not, take a look at their amazing site: http://thecoveteur.com/ and drool over the fantastic pieces found in some of the most sough after wardrobes. From Joanna Hillman (Senior Fashion Market Editor at Harper's Bazaar, who happened to make an appearance at the event as well!) to John Gerhardt (Creative Director at Holt Renfrew), the team at The Coveteur have captured their personalities through photographing them in their most intimate spaces. The creators of the extremely successful site made their first official personal appearance at the Holt Renfrew store on Bloor Street and were interviewed by Barbara Atkin, Vice President of Fashion Direction at Holt Renfrew. Erin Kleinberg, Stephanie Mark, and Jake Rosenberg were so personable and gave great insight into their journey to becoming internationally recognized.

I attended the event with the chic Sparks twins, Brittany and Maleah (http://www.sparkstwins.com) and we got a great spot in the front during the interview. I thought it was very well done and it was great to hear how they got started with blogging and their thoughts on the impact of social media. And I love how all three of the creators are Torontonians and have come such a long way since they began.

Amazing!

After the interview, they all mingled among the crowd and I had a chance to talk to them and take some photos. They are such nice, humble people and I'm so glad to have met them. Anyway, if you get a chance, definitely check out the exclusive display at Holt Renfrew, which goes on now until Sept. 8!

For all you Selena fans, I'm sure you already knew she was in Toronto this week! She performed at her concert last night and I heard it was amazing. And luckily for Torontonians, she made a second appearance at MuchMusic on New.Music.Live. The Honey Jam Pt.1

Hey everyone!

Earlier this week, I won tickets from Sarah Taylor & Much Music to attend Honey Jam 2011 at the Mod Club on August 11. And not only did I get to see the showcase of amazing female talent, but I got to see it from the balcony lounge! I only stayed up there for the beginning, but it was awesome because it was mainly the area for the performers and sponsors! (And did I mention there was food?)

The Honey Jam was celebrating its 16th year anniversary and many famous female names began with their performances at this very showcase - including Nelly Furtado and Jully Black!

Hosted by Sarah Taylor, the event was fantastic. It featured artists from all over Canada who have many different musical backgrounds. And since I wanted to get some better photos, I left the balcony area and went to the front of the stage.

Yesterday at New.Music.Live, the cast of Shark Night 3D stopped by to promote their movie coming out on September 2! Sara Paxton (Darcy's Wild Life, Aquamarine, Sydney White) and Dustin Milligan (90210) had great energy and were super nice! They brought signed beach balls to give to enthusiastic fans and Much Music even surprised the 2 with a special guest: Shark! Lauren Toyota interviewed them about the making of the movie.

Since there weren't that many people in the audience for this show, we got to talk to the stars more and get photos with them and everything. For me, Sydney White is one of my favourite movies, so I talked to Sara about it! Both Sara and Dustin were really funny and friendly.

Hey everyone!

I'm back in Toronto and I'm glad to be back in the city! Yesterday, I was able to go to New.Music.Live and be in the audience for Nick Carter's appearance. For all you BSB fans, I'm sure you tuned into the episode...

He stopped by to promote his solo project and debut his video for 'Love Can't Wait'

Although his visit was quick, he did a great interview and showed appreciation for all his fans.

And I'll admit, my inner fan girl came out. Not only was I sitting on the couch across from him during his interview, I got to also shake his hand as he was on his way out to greet his fans who were watching from the window/gates. Sighhhhhhh....

The Faculty - Vancouver, BC

I came across this video of the dance crew "The Faculty" from Vancouver, BC. I've always been inspired by the dancers in the Vancity dance community and am so proud to know some of these talented guys.

They won the title of World of Dance champions on their Vancouver stop of the Canadian WOD tour, and they definitely deserved it.

KATY PERRY Live in Vancouver!

On July 19th, Katy Perry came to Vancouver for her final Canadian stop on her California Dreams tour. Full of confetti, many colourful wardrobe changes, and innuendo of weed brownies, she was amazing to see live. It was such a fun atmosphere, especially for those lucky fans from the audience who got to dance up on stage alongside the sweet superstar.
