George Stroumboulopoulos taping March 30

Hey everyone!

Quick update!

Today, my friend Terrence and I checked out a taping of George Stroumboulopoulos Tonight (such a mouthful haha) and had such a great time. He's always energetic and has a great personality.

For today's show, the guests were Elisha Cuthbert (you may remember her from your fave childhood show Popular Mechanics For Kids or drama show 24) and actor/writer Stephen Fry.

They both did fantastic interviews, each with their own quirkiness and personal stories.

That's all for today!

Hey everyone!

It's getting closer and closer to the Juno Awards (Sunday, March 27th) and there have been some cool events throughout the city to get everyone pumped up! As a part of Juno Week, there was an event here at Ryerson called Juno Hoops on Monday, March 21 and it brought Ryerson athletes together with some celebrities for a great basketball game for charity. It was presented by The Globe and Mail, sponsored by clotheyourcity.com and it was a benefit for MusiCounts.

Here are some of the celebrities who participated:

DJ Scratch Bastid - first ever DJ to be nominated for a Juno Award
Will Strickland - former professional player and UMAC president
Ray Robinson - R&B star
Donovan Bailey - Olympic double gold medalist sprinter
J.E Skeets & Tas Melas - Co-hosts of The Basketball Jones Show on The Score
Michael Grange - sports writer for The Globe and Mail
DJ Future the Prince - Drake's official tour DJ
Devo Brown - Media personality

Honorary Coaches:

Tanya Kim - host on eTalk
Archie Alleyne - Drummer

Commentator:

Mark Strong - Toronto Rapters game day host and hype man

Normally, as you may have noticed, I tend to avoid sports. But in this case, I'm glad I checked this out, because I had a pretty good time!

Travie McCoy performs live at NML

Hey everyone!

March 17th was a busy day at New.Music.Live, because not only did Tyler Blackburn stop by, but the one and only Travie McCoy! You may know him from the Gym Class Heroes, but he has gone the solo route and is rockin it.

The awesome Phoebe Dykstra sat down with the tattoed artist, along with his adorable dog, and did a quick interview. Then he took the stage and performed in front of excited fans. He sang 'We'll Be Alright' and 'Billionaire'

I got to see him perform up close and it was so much fun. He knows how to pump up the crowd and shows his personality through quirky dance moves and fist pumping.

Here are some of my photos from his performance!

I was so glad to get his autograph! :)

Hope your March is going well,

Tyler Blackburn at NML!

Hey everyone!

If you're a fan of Pretty Little Liars, you may have seen Tyler Blackburn aka Caleb on Thursday, March 17. I was able to stop by the NML studio and got a glimpse of the PLL star. He did a short interview with NML host, Lauren Toyota, and fans were excited that he was there. There were even fans waiting outside the studio on the sidewalk to see him.

Here are a few pictures I took!

I bet you all are excited for the PLL finale on Monday!

Ryerson Residence Focus Festival

Hey everyone!

On Thursday, March 10, the Focus Festival at Ryerson University took place in the Engineering Building Atrium, and I was really excited for it!

As some of you may not know, I love to sew in my spare time. In a way, it's my stress reliever. But since I wasn't able to bring a sewing machine with me over here to Toronto, I'm glad I remembered to bring a couple of my pieces from home.

So, I entered one of my dresses into the Focus Festival, which is a competition with 4 categories (Fashion, Photography, Design and Film) and last night the awards were given out. Although I didn't win anything, it felt so good to see my dress on the runway for the fashion show portion of the event! Check out these pictures!

Here are some photos of some of the other submissions! Great job everyone!

Thanks for checking it out! I'm inspired to sew more this summer! :)

Behind The Scenes at the Juno Awards

Hey everyone!

As you may already know, the Juno Awards are coming up quickly (Sunday March 27th) and it's going to be it's 40th Anniversary! I'm really excited to be here in Toronto when it's happening, because I know the city is going to be buzzing with excitement and there are going to be some fantastic events.

Already, one of the pump-up events took place on Monday, March 7 on the Ryerson campus at the Rogers Communication Centre (woot woot, my building!) in the Eaton Lecture Theatre.

The event was a panel discussion with some of the faces behind the production side of the infamous Juno Awards. The host was eTalk's Ben Mulroney and the atmosphere was very casual and interactive.

The panel included Stephen Stohn (President of Epitome Productions - Degrassi & Instant Star), John Brunton (President & CEO of Insight Production Compant Ltd - Top Chef Canada, Artists for Haiti, Project Runway Canada), Ed Robinson (worked with both CBC & CTV - Corner Gas, Canadian Idol, Comedy Now!, So You Think You Can Dance Canada), and Joan Tosoni (Award-winning director - Canadian Idol, Battle of the Blades).

The talked about how they got involved with the Junos, their favourite past Juno moments, famous screw-ups, and even about their choice for this year's host, Toronto's own, Drake.
Stephen Stohn praised the former Degrassi star, saying he is "one of the most intelligent people, so wonderful...Little Aubrey Graham."
Overall, it was an interesting discussion and I'm excited to see what this year's show has got in store for us!
Make sure to tune in on March 27 to see Canadian talent rock the stage :)
Thanks!

Dev from The Cataracs!

Hey everyone,

Wednesday, March 2 really was one of the best days of my life. First, I got to see Adele perform up close and one other spectacular thing happened...

Well, if you didn't already know, my other favourite song (besides Rolling in the Deep) is Bass Down Low by Dev and the Cataracs, so I was ecstatic when I found out I would get to see Dev in person at MuchMusic on New.Music.Live
Not only did I get to see her do an interview with Phoebe Dykstra, a host of NML, but I also got to be one of her backup dancers during her performance on the NML stage!! A group of us got to go up on stage with her and dance along as Dev sang Bass Down Low, Booty Bounce, and Like a G6.
It was such an awesome experience and Dev is so cool!
Here are some of the pictures I took!
With Phoebe Dykstra!

With Dev!

Dev's autograph!
Thanks for checking it out!
