This was my second-to-last week in NYC so I definitely tried to fit in as much as I could! I went on the Staten Island Ferry, checked out the H&M Meatpacking pop-up, had an adventure out to Amherst UMass & more.
I wandered solo to Staten Island one beautiful afternoon and ended up on a park bench chatting with a lovely woman on her lunch break. She's lived in New York her entire life, so she shared some of her favourite spots and experiences. After hearing about my summer, she was very nice and encouraging, saying how proud she was of me. The kindness of strangers is really heartwarming to me. She continued and said that she admires my independence and that my parents raised me well. She also thinks that I should write a self-help book or something to share my experiences to inspire other young students. "New York is where you go to make your dreams come true and you're doing it." She really made my day.

I ventured out to Amherst UMass to visit some friends for the weekend and it was quite the adventure. Since I haven't really ever been to a real college town before, it was cool to see what the atmosphere was like. My friend's place has a Monopoly-themed room (see photos above haha) and it was a lot of fun. The following day, we went on a river float on blow-up rafts and well, let's just say that I was really out of my element. Overall it was fun though!
Then back to the city.

Random conversations with strangers are sometimes so great! Looks like you had an awesome time. I've never been to New York but it's on my list :)
