PHOTOGRAPHY | Ageless Glamour

During my second semester at NYU, I took a photojournalism class that ended with an exhibit reception featuring our final projects. Inspired by the documentary Advanced Style and street style photographers Ari Seth Cohen and Bill Cunningham, I took a look at some of NYC's most stylish ladies and presented a series titled Ageless Glamour.

MY LIFE | NY1 Internship Experience

If you're a broadcast journalism student looking for an internship in NYC, I highly recommend NY1 News. I spent 10 weeks with the living unit at NY1 (arts/entertainment/lifestyle features) and it was such a great experience. I've done a bunch of internships in the past, and this is definitely one of the best. It was very hands-on and everyone was incredibly encouraging and supportive. You have the opportunity to try different things and meet people from other departments.

Take a look into my NY1 internship experience:

MY LIFE | A pretty awesome April

Every week living here in NYC seriously goes by so fast. I can't believe April is already over. From school and film shoots to getting grillz and eating so much food, this month was full of pleasant surprises. Take a look:

I got to try out my teaching chops! I was invited to guest lecture at a marketing/branding class for high school students through NYU's School of Professional Studies.

EVENT | New York TechDay 2015

NY TechDay was bumpin'.

I arrived around noon and the line was insane (see photo above). I attended the fourth annual event at Pier 92 in Manhattan to produce a video for a class at NYU, so I was in and out pretty quick - I wish I could've stayed longer though because it was jam-packed. I was definitely overwhelmed by the amount of start-ups and the amount of cool people to talk to.

The comeback of grillz

I've always had a thing for grillz. Don't ask me why, but it's just been a thing. You may remember, this was me from Halloween:

So naturally, I wanted to explore the grillz culture here in New York City. I did a project on it for a class at NYU and here's how it turned out:

MY LIFE | March Madness

Danny Clinch photography exhibit at Milk Studios
So March was pretty cray. School kept me busy as per usual, but there was also some cool internship stuff and fun events! Here's a recap of what went down this month:

Yes, still had snow. Pretty though!

Beauty On-Demand Services in NYC

There really is an app for everything. Amongst the successes of Uber and Seamless, the world of on-demand services is booming – and that includes beauty and grooming.

NYU Now

This semester, I've been taking a class called the Digital Newsroom, where we produce a half-hour long show every Thursday. It's been an interesting experience that's for sure! The professors, Adrian Mihai and Joe Peyronnin are pretty much amazing (SO MUCH WISDOM). Each week, we all rotate positions to get tour chance to try different roles in the control room.

MY LIFE | February In A Nutshell

Last semester, I blogged about my NYC experiences week-by-week. This time around, I definitely haven't found time to do that. Instead, I'll be rounding up my adventures from the entire month and putting them into a post like this one. Fair warning, these will mostly be of food and/or random cool things that I stumbled upon.

 Vancity/Toronto/NYC reunion!

PHOTOGRAPHY | Chinatown

For a recent photojournalism class assignment, I strolled around NYC's vibrant Chinatown to snap some shots of the food, street and culture. Chinese New Year is right around the corner, so the neighborhood seemed to be buzzing more than usual. Anyways, I just thought I'd share some of my photos from my adventure!

EVENT | Women Entrepreneurs Festival 2015

Last week, I had the pleasure of hearing the legendary fashion industry icon Diane von Furstenberg speak on campus at NYU. She was the keynote speaker and was such a fantastic choice to get an inspirational weekend started. DVF spoke candidly and openly about her humble beginnings and how she got to where she is today.

WE Festival co-founder Joanne Wilson did a conversational interview with DVF and it was enlightening and hilarious.

Last week of classes for the semester -- getting that much closer to the holidays!
Here's December 8-14:

This week it got incredibly cold. My friends were all impressed by my ability to bundle up. #thecanadian

NYU | Fashion Technology in NYC

It's crazy how fast this first semester at NYU flew by. My grad program is only three semesters in total and I can't believe I'm basically 1/3 of the way there. Weird. Anyway, I just submitted my final project for my reporting class—we could choose any topic and any medium. I chose to do a video looking into New York's fashion technology scene.

MY LIFE | NYC Week 13

Well this was an exciting week! I went from firing rifles to having a Dun fam jam in NYC.
Here's Nov.17-23:

NYU | West Point Military Academy

Never would I have thought I'd see the day that I'd get to shoot a rifle. It happened last Monday, on a field trip to West Point Military Academy with my class. My initial thoughts:
