EVENT | Teen Vogue x Man Repeller x Phillip Lim

As a longtime fan of Teen Vogue, I always love checking out the cool and fun events they have whenever I'm in New York. And now that I live here, it's nice to be able to get out to a lot more of them. I recently sat in the audience of a panel discussion and book signing for The Teen Vogue Handbook, featuring Editor in Chief Amy Astley and Editors Elaine Welteroth & Drew Elovitz, along with the Man Repeller herself Leandra Medine and fashion designer Phillip Lim. This is the second edition of the handbook, which has a lot of new information for anyone hoping to get into the fashion industry.

 Such a rock star panel:

NYC Summer 2013 | Week 14 In Photos (the LAST week!)

I spent 14 wonderful weeks in New York City and I couldn't have asked for a more amazing summer experience. The places I saw, the people I met, the food I ate, the parties I checked out...everything was just too good to be true. Honestly, living in NYC for three months was the best form of inspiration I could have ever gotten. I got to see people living their dreams and see people with jobs that I aspire to work towards, and being so close to that world was exactly what I needed.

Fourteen of the happiest weeks of my life.

Stumbled upon some free makeovers from Target on my home from work!

Checked out the new Phillip Lim location for Racked NY

Friday night on the 230 Fifth rooftop!

My friend Catherine and I checked out the Body Worlds exhibit and of course had to get cupcakes afterwards (conveniently located at the exit of the exhibit haha)

Saw The Butler - such a good movie!

 Goodbye, my love.

Thanks for following my weekly photo diaries from my NYC adventure! Hope you all have a great summer :)

Back it up:
WEEK SIX | WEEK SEVEN | WEEK EIGHT | WEEK NINE
WEEK TEN | WEEK ELEVEN | WEEK TWELVE
WEEK THIRTEEN

Now I'm back in Toronto and going through intense NYC withdrawal. Don't worry, I'll be back soon!!

EXHIBIT | Front Row @ MOCA

Right before making the move to NYC for the summer, I did some research into what exhibits and events were going to be happening while I was in the city and I came across the Museum of Chinese in America. They have a fantastic exhibit on right now featuring Chinese American designers doing amazing work in the fashion industry.

From Vera Wang and Jason Wu to Anna Sui and Phillip Lim, there is such a great variety of designers. Curated by Mary Ping, the exhibit features both legendary Asian fashion influencers as well as young, up-and-comers. Each designer chose a piece (or a couple of pieces) to display and there were videos playing around the room where you could watch and listen to interviews. They were fascinating.

I absolutely love Vera Wang...I'd love to meet her someday.

If you get a chance, I definitely recommend checking it out! The exhibit runs through til December 1. For more details, visit http://www.mocanyc.org

TEEN VOGUE FASHION UNIVERSITY 2012 | Part 7: Phillip Lim

Keeping things fresh, designer Phillip Lim brought his west coast style and laid-back personality to the stage at the Hudson Theatre. Interviewed by Teen Vogue's Gloria Baume, Phillip was inviting and personable, creating more of a conversational atmosphere, which I really liked about his session.

He began his education in business, but after realizing that it just wasn't for him, he dropped out and finished with a degree in home economics (now known as family consumer sciences). From there, he pursued his love of fashion and eventually made his way from LA to NY.

His label 3.1 Phillip Lim has done tremendously well and his designs have been worn by the likes of starlets including Emma Watson and  Lauren Conrad.

Here are a few photos from his TVFU session:

Check out these videos from his women's & men's SS 2013 runway shows:
