MY LIFE | A pretty awesome April

Every week living here in NYC seriously goes by so fast. I can't believe April is already over. From school and film shoots to getting grillz and eating so much food, this month was full of pleasant surprises. Take a look:

I got to try out my teaching chops! I was invited to guest lecture at a marketing/branding class for high school students through NYU's School of Professional Studies.

UPCOMING | INLAND

Heads up Toronto! This weekend, head over to 99 Sudbury St. for a shopping event that supports Canadian designers - 80 of them! I love the concept of INLAND because there's so much cool stuff coming out of Canada, everyone needs to show them some love.

I've rounded up some of my top picks from some pretty awesome companies - check it out:

EVENT | New York TechDay 2015

NY TechDay was bumpin'.

I arrived around noon and the line was insane (see photo above). I attended the fourth annual event at Pier 92 in Manhattan to produce a video for a class at NYU, so I was in and out pretty quick - I wish I could've stayed longer though because it was jam-packed. I was definitely overwhelmed by the amount of start-ups and the amount of cool people to talk to.

The comeback of grillz

I've always had a thing for grillz. Don't ask me why, but it's just been a thing. You may remember, this was me from Halloween:

So naturally, I wanted to explore the grillz culture here in New York City. I did a project on it for a class at NYU and here's how it turned out:

EVENT | 7th Annual Shorty Awards

I got to attend this year's Shorty Awards and it was unlike any other event I've ever been to. The Shorty Awards honors the best people and organizations on social media in a huge variety of categories, from best Viners and YouTube musicians to favorite bloggers and activists. It was so cool to be surrounded by so many fellow social media addicts, especially ones who I've been following for so long.

The show was hosted by SNL funny gal Rachel Dratch and featured lots of presenters, including Kevin Jonas, Tyler Oakley, Bella Thorne and even Bill Nye. Highlight of the night, Bill Nye dancing on stage.

Here are just a few of the night's big winners:
Comedian: Hannibal Buress
Journalist: Wesley Lowery
Snapchatter: Jerome Jarre
Teen Hero: Malala Fund
Vine Comedian presented by HBO's Silicon Valley: Brandon Bowen
Podcast: Serial
DIY: Bethany Mota
Vine Musician: Shawn Mendes
YouTube Comedian: Jenna Marbles
Emoji: Poop face
For full list of winners, click HERE.

At the end of the show, the entire audience got to go home with selfie sticks! Rachel Dratch was like the Shorty Awards version of Oprah. You get a selfie stick, you get a selfie stick!

THEATRE | It Shoulda Been You Opening Night

Image via Facebook
It was a busy month of Broadway show openings for NY1 theater reporter Frank DiLella and I was happy that I got to go along to one of his shoots - the opening night of the comical wedding musical It Shoulda Been You.

I also went to the press preview for the show too, so I knew a lot more about it beforehand, but it was cool to be at the official opening night party at the beautiful Edison Ballroom. I helped out with some social media stuff at the event and experimented with Periscope, the new livestreaming app that's all the rage. (Neil Patrick Harris was in my first-ever Periscope livestream, nbd)

One of the guests: Tituss Burgess (from the hilarious series 'Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt')

NPH was there supporting his husband David Burtka - sigh, they are the cutest couple.

FOOD | Smorgasburg is BACK!

I love food. So it's no surprise that a food festival would be right up my alley. I have no idea why it took me so long, but I FINALLY got out to Smorgasburg, after hearing rave reviews. I went to the Brooklyn Bridge Park location (there are two, the other one is in Williamsburg) during it's opening weekend and it was a beautiful (but windy!) day to spend outdoors.

 Such a lovely view.

EVENT | Tartan Week NYC

I've never been so immersed in Scottish culture than I had about a week ago. First off, I stumbled upon some fun folks promoting a show called Outlander, which apparently is a huge Game of Thrones-type hit. Complete with bagpipes and kilts, they were strolling around Union Square inviting people to a premiere event. Sadly I wasn't able to make it.

MY LIFE | March Madness

Danny Clinch photography exhibit at Milk Studios
So March was pretty cray. School kept me busy as per usual, but there was also some cool internship stuff and fun events! Here's a recap of what went down this month:

Yes, still had snow. Pretty though!
