EVENTS | FASHION ROCKS

Image via Facebook
September 9th was a great day. From nearly getting kicked in the face by one of Nicki Minaj's dancers to rocking out with KISS to getting a high five from Luke Bryan to making eye contact with J. Lo, this was not a typical Tuesday. I had gotten a ticket to participate in the rehearsal for Fashion Rocks, a huge event that celebrates the relationship between music and fashion. I didn't really know what to expect, but it turned out to be an amazing insider's look into the production of the show. I took part in the full dress rehearsal as an audience member standing in the pits side stage—aka I was SO close to some of my favourite performers. Unfortunately I wasn't allowed to take any photos/videos while inside the rehearsal...

It was seriously amazing though. Highlight: watching Nicki Minaj rehearse Anaconda like four times in a row and being an arms reach away from Usher. And after the rehearsal, we were all given tickets to the actual show later that night!

The event took place at Barclays Center:

FASHION | Concept Korea @ NYFW SS15

Photo via conceptkorea.org
My first New York Fashion Week show was on Tuesday, September 9th. I've always wanted to see what the atmosphere is like and it was pretty cool. I attended the Concept Korea show, which showcases various up-and-coming Korean designers. I saw LEYII by Seunghee Lee, Resurrection by Juyoung Lee and Beyond Closet by Taeyong Ko.

STORY | Style.tech

I have always loved the concept of NYC's STORY, located at 144 West 10th Ave. STORY is "a retail space that has the point of view of a magazine, changes like a gallery and sells things like a store."

Whenever I'm in the city, I always stop by for a visit. Previous stories:

The newest story is: style.tech — which I LOVE.

I love exploring the city, so I'll definitely share some of the stellar spots that I stumble upon.

FASHION | adidas NEO x Selena Gomez #NEOrunway

Image via Facebook
New York Fashion Week is well underway and the excitement kicked off early with a fashion industry first. adidas NEO Label collaborated with triple threat Selena Gomez to create the first-ever tweet-powered runway in New York City on September 3rd. The entire production of the #NEOrunway was determined by audience participation online, from the outfits chosen to walk the runway to the set design and music.

Hey guys, I just wanted to share a link to a new photography portfolio site that I just launched - I'll be posting some of my favourite photos from my adventures in fashion and music.

EVENT | DuJour Celebrates With Kendall & Kylie Jenner

I never thought I'd be able to cross "party with Kendall and Kylie Jenner" off my bucket list, but it happened. During my first week in NYC, I found myself at LAVO for DuJour Magazine's celebration of its fall It-Girls and they sure know how to throw a party.

MY LIFE | HELLO NYU

Photo via Facebook
The day I got my acceptance letter, I cried. I cried a lot. New York University has always been my dream school, and when I fully realized that I'd be moving to NYC this fall as an official NYU grad student, I had to pinch myself.

The summer flew by, but I was counting down the days until the big move.

On August 24th, my friends and I embarked on a road trip to transport my entire life across the American border. This process made me realize truly the amount of unnecessary tangible objects I have in my life. Note to self: GET RID OF IT ALL.

FASHION | Shelfies

Although summer is sadly coming to an end, I'm glad I got the chance to spend some of it working with a company whose goal is to make clothing that makes people smile. Shelfies is a Toronto-based clothing company that does just that by creating memorable clothes featuring anything from sloths and pineapples to hamburgers and Kanye West eating ice cream (one of my personal faves). I spent a few months as the brand's marketing intern, helping out with social media management and media outreach, and I had a blast.

Take a peek into my Shelfies experience:

INTERVIEW WITH | The Glitch Mob

Image via Facebook
I sat down with the guys of The Glitch Mob earlier this month in Montreal, where we chatted about their new album, the world of EDM and the ever-growing Glitch Mob community. Made up of Josh "Ooah," Justin "Boreta" and Ed "edIT," this LA-based trio has been working hard on making their music known worldwide.

Check out some of the interview below:

Earlier this year, you released your second album, Love Death Immortality – what went into the making of it?

Justin: It was about a two-year process where we had been touring our previous album and decided to stop and take everything we learned on the road and put it back into our new record. The focus for us is always on the emotion and the story and feeling of a song. This time, we put it into a package that was ready to be performed live and toured. It sounded like music that was engineered for the live stage and had the energy of the drama of a big live show we wanted to put on.

INTERVIEW WITH | Local Natives

Photo via Facebook
I got the chance to chat with a couple of the guys in Local Natives, a cool indie-rock band from Los Angeles. I saw down with Ryan Hahn and Nik Ewing, who gave insight into the touring life, working with each other and what's coming up (the group also includes Taylor Rice, Kelcey Ayer and Matt Frazier).

INTERVIEW WITH | Dream Koala

Photo via Facebook
Yndi Ferreira, or better known as Dream Koala, makes music to inspire change in the world. His latest EP, Earth. Home. Destroyed., takes place in the future, where he hopes to see a difference in the way things are moving. “I really wanted to write about saving the planet and to change our mentality and think about our environment.”

Originally from Paris, the 20-year-old producer made his first trip onto Canadian soil to perform at the Osheaga music festival in Montreal on August 1. He hit the electronic stage and brought his energetic and ambient sound. His music brings together a mixture of genres, which he says comes from listening to so many different types growing up, ranging from traditional Brazilian music to metal and jazz.

Osheaga 2014

Being so close to Childish Gambino that I could see his sweat dripping down his back, being front row for a truly magical performance by Lorde, and having some pretty rad interviews with some very talented artists was definitely what made Osheaga 2014 stand out.

This was my third year covering the festival in Montreal and every year, there are moments that just make me have such a stupid smile on my face. I'm such a fan of live music and I love being able to fully immerse myself in so many cool events and atmospheres.

Check out my highlights via photos:

I had the pleasure of watching his set from side stage — a pretty unreal experience. I stood there alongside uber-cool rockstar sisters HAIM, who were supporting their friend Donald.

INTERVIEW WITH: Cher Lloyd

It's been a crazy busy time—agh I've been seriously lacking on the blogging. Anyways, here's an interview I did with British popstar Cher Lloyd this summer. Make sure you give her new album Sorry I'm Late a listen!

-->
Christina Dun: Congrats on the new album! How does it compare to Sticks and Stones?

Cher Lloyd: My first record was very bubblegum pop and very pop-driven, but this record has so many different musical elements. You can’t really pinpoint what genre it really is and that was a conscious decision made by me. There are songs you can cry to and songs you can go out and party to. It’s quite an emotional record and it’s very up and down.

NXNE: 20th Anniversary Party

NXNE is always a busy time. I had a jam-packed schedule that I had to balance with my part-time job and other life stuff. But I love NXNE because there's so much going on and I can usually time things so that they work out pretty well. One of the first events I checked out was the 20th Anniversary Party at Edward Day Gallery on Queen West.

I had a spot at the red carpet and here's a glimpse of who came out to the party!

SNEAK PEEK: Alli Simpson Style Shoot

Via Facebook
Already a past Faze Magazine cover star, the adorable Alli Simpson will be featured once again in our upcoming issue. We had a fun back-to-school style shoot with the Australian beauty earlier this month. You may recognize her as Cody Simpson's younger sis, but she's quickly making a name for herself, through her own singing talents and her incredibly pretty Instagram.
